We were responsible for creating all the photographic artworks for a landmark exhibition that documented the narrative history and post-war experiences of the Palankudi community in Trincomalee, Sri Lanka. This project, a participatory research initiative by the Centre for Poverty Analysis (CEPA) in collaboration with the University of South Carolina and ROLC, was the first of its kind to capture the wartime experiences of the coastal indigenous Palankudi (Aadhikudi) communities.
Contribution
Photographic Artwork: We created compelling visual narratives through curated photographs that authentically represented the lived experiences of the Palankudi community, bringing their stories to life for exhibition attendees.
Cultural Sensitivity: Our work focused on preserving the integrity and depth of the community’s history, offering a powerful, respectful portrayal of their resilience.
Outcome
The exhibition provided a platform for the Palankudi youth to share their untold stories, offering attendees a unique insight into the wartime struggles of these indigenous communities. Our photographic artworks played a key role in illustrating and amplifying their narrative.
